Kamagate has imposing physical tools, standing at 6’11 with a 7’3 wingspan. His frame has room to add more weight and become more stronger, something that will be key in the upcoming years. He isn’t the most explosive athlete but he owns an incredibly strong lower body that allows him to hold his own against strong players close to the basket. Kamagate plays with impressive toughness and energy, being the kind of player who sacrifices his body with the hustle plays. His offensive game is still a work in progress considering his poor skillset, but he is able to find the way to impact the offense thanks to his rim-running ability, good hands as a catch-and-finisher and high-level offensive rebounding instincts. He is also making progress as a facilitator from the low post or out of short-rolls. Defensively, he is always sitting in a proper stance and has above average quickness moving his feet for a player of his size, something that suggests potential as a versatile defender on P&R. He isn’t an elite shot blocker given his average explosiveness, but he isn’t afraid to contest and stay in front of anyone at the rim. Kamagate is a late-bloomer who still has a lot of room to hone his game in terms of IQ and skills; but considering his poor background playing at a high-level, he really has a high ceiling above him.
FIBA U18 European Championship Division A - August 2019
Late bloomer, had a breakout tournament. Very intriguing frame, still skinny and undeveloped. Athletic, impressive full court runner and explosive around the rim. Lacks ball skills. Right now a rim runner and finisher inside. Catches the ball easily on the run and cuts hard at the basket. Rebounds hard.
