Yesterday the battle for two spots for the Eurobasket 2011 in Lithuania made another step forward with six more games of the Division B tournament. Montenegro and Sweden extended their record to a 5-0 balance, keeping their chances to go up, but one of the names of the day was romanian young prospect Vlad Moldoveanu ('88), currently at George Mason (NCAA). The power-forward made a great performance in Cyprus, but not enough to get the victory, loosing after an overtime (78-69): 20 points (2/3 threes), 13 rebounds and 2 steals. Titus Nicoara ('88) collected 7 points and 4 rebounds and Florin Muntean ('88) didn't play. At the local side guard Christopher Razis ('89) didn't play either. On the other game of group B Albania beat Switzerland (76-73) with 14 points and 7 rebounds of center Endrit Hysenagolli ('88), while Florian Ismeti ('89) didn't play. For the swiss squad young point-guard Jonathan Kazadi ('91) dind't play. On the standings Belarus is first (4-0) over Romania, Cyprus, Switzerland and Albania, all of them with a 2-3 balance.
Let's take a look to group A, with Montenegro crashing Netherlands (93-68). Team coached by Dusko Vujosevic is going on the right showing what they can do, and yesterday dutchmen had no options. Vladimir Dasic ('88) collected 10 points and 4 steals for the locals. At the other game Austria beat Denmark easy (92-61) with center Rahid Mahalbasic ('90) scoring 6 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and blocking 3 shots. The player borned in Slovenia was named the MVP of Division "B" European Championship this summer in Skopje (Macedonia). For the danish squad young forward Mads Frandsen ('90) didn't waste the time (12+6 in 18'), Frederik Nielsen ('88) collected 6 points and 4 rebounds, Mikkel Plannthin ('88) scored 5 points and grabbed 2 rebounds and finally Morten Sahlertz ('89) made 1 foul in 4 minutes. On the standings of this group Montenegro is at the top (5-0) below Austria (3-2), Netherlands (3-2), Iceland (1-3) and Denmark (0-5).
On the last group, the C, Georgia destroyed Luxembourg by 42 points (115-73). Giorgi Shermadini ('89) collected 11 points and 3 rebounds in 10 minutes, while Nika Metreveli ('91) and Tornike Shengelia ('91) didn't play. For Luxembourg brazilian borned Raul Birenbaum ('89) scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 12 minutes, point-guard Pitt Koster ('89) added 2 points and 2 rebounds, Samy Picard ('88) collected 2 rebounds and 1 assist and Laurent Schwartz ('89) didn't score in 3 minutes. Luc Kartheiser ('89) didn't play. In the last game of the day Ireland lost at home against Sweden (50-66). On the standings of the group Sweden is first (5-0) below Georgia (4-1), Slovak Republic (2-2), Ireland (1-4) and Luxembourg (0-5).
