Gal Mekel ('88) will play next season with Maccabi Tel-Aviv. The guard left israelian junior team and went to play to USA with the university of Wichita State (NCAA). After two years he came back, but Maccabi loaned him to Galil Gilboa, where he averaged 8.1 points and 2.9 assists. Now he is a new member of the team coached by Pini Gershon.

This summer Mekel arrived to the semifinals of the World University Games with Israel: 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists.
