After loosing against the young Serbia, Spain had yesterday the most important game at the Eurobasket facing Great Britain. Chris Finch's team had the option to knock out Pau Gasol & Co., they battled, and 5 minutes before the game U.K. was winning. But Lakers star appeared and Spain breathed (84-76). Prospect Victor Claver ('89) helped in the victory. The forward only played 17 minutes, but enough to collect 12 points (2/2 behind the arc), 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Ricky Rubio ('90) didn't shine much, but usually he finishes always with good stats: 5 points, 6 assists and 1 block. At english side Daniel Clark ('88) didn't play. At the other game of the group Serbia lost against Slovenia (80-69). Nemanja Bjelica ('88) finished as the best serbian prospect, with 8 points and 5 rebounds. Milan Macvan ('89) collected 4 points and 2 rebounds, Miroslav Raduljica ('88) scored also 4 in 6 minutes, and finally Stefan Markovic ('88) added 2 and 4 rebounds. in the group standings Slovenia is first (2-0), over Spain (1-1), Serbia (1-1) and Great Britain (0-2).
Let's see the group A. Israel lost against FYROM 79-82, with Gal Mekel ('88) scoring 1 point and grabbing 7 rebounds. On the other game Greece beat Croatia 76-68. Kostas Koufos ('89) collected 10 points and 2 rebounds in 13 minutes, while Nick Calathes ('89) scored 3 points and dished 2 assists in 10. On the standings Greece is first (2-0), below Croatia (1-1), FYROM (1-1) and Israel (0-2).
About group B... The young Germany beat Russia (76-73), with the prospects shining in a good level. Tim Olbrecht ('88) scored 9 points and grabbed 3 rebounds, Lucca Staiger ('88) scored 7 points and made 1 steal, Robin Benzing ('89) collected 6 points and 2 rebounds, Elias Harris ('89) didn't score in 14 minutes (1 rebound) and Tibor Pleiss ('89) played only 2 minutes. On the other game of the group France beat Latvia (51-60). Nicolas Batum ('88) scored 7 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, and Antoine Diot ('89) didn't score in 7 minutes (0/2 FG). At the other team Rolands Freimanis ('88) stayed all the game at the bench. On the standings France is first (2-0), over Russia (1-1), Germany (1-1) and Latvia (0-2).
Finally in group D Poland surprised Lithuania (75-86) and Turkey destroyed Bulgaria (66-94). In this last game Baris Hersek ('88) played 20 minutes for the winners: 7 points and 3 rebounds. At bulgarian side Chavtar Kostov ('88) scored 3 points in 13 minutes and Bozhidar Abramov ('90) only played 2 minutes. On the standings Turkey is first (2-0), below Poland (2-0), Lithuania (0-2) and Bulgaria (0-2).
