Second day at the U-16 Turk Telekom Tournament at Konya (Turkey), with victories of Turkey and Serbia, the two teams with more options to make the final (even actually are at the same group). Turkish prospects beat Poland (74-80) with Tayfun Erulku ('94) scoring 24 points and making 7 steals. But the power of the inside couple destroyed the paint: Burak Yildizli ('94) collected 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Burak Haciismail ('94) nailed 12 points and pulled down 20 rebounds. Youngster Kenan Sipahi ('95) scored 8 points and dished 7 assists, but struggled at 3 points line (0/7). For Poland guard Daniel Szymkiewicz ('94) was close of the triple-double: 13 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists.

In the same group A Serbia crashed Germany (70-101). Nikola Jankovic ('94) shined at the same line as yesterday (23 points and 7 rebounds in 17'), while guard Nikola Radicevic ('94) recovered from his debut with a very complete contest: 19 points with 4/5 threes, 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. For germans forward Kalidou Diouf ('94) scored 13 in 13'.

 

At group B France is the only unbeaten team after winning Slovenia (43-70). Guard Anthony Racine ('94) finished as the best game scorer with 13 points and 3/6 threes, while Charly Maraux ('94) collected 11 points, 5 rebonds and 4 assists. For the losers forward Tomas Bolcina ('94) nailed 9 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.

Finally Italy beat Greece (93-74) even the great game of center Paris Maragkos ('94) -at the pic-: 29 points with 12/17 twos and 5 rebounds. Aristide Landi ('94) showed once more his skills (21+5 in 18') leading his team to the victory, while point-guard John David Rath ('94) collected 18 points, 8 assists and 5 steals. 2.09 center Francesco Candussi ('94) added 13 points and 7 rebounds.
