Serbia have won this year's edition of the U-16 Turk Telekom Tournament, played in Konya (Turkey), after beating France in the big final (82-85). The two squads arrived to the game with a 5-0 record, but serbians won the trophy led by guard Nikola Radicevic ('94), from Partizan, with 17 points and 2 steals, and forward Nikola Jankovic ('94) -at the pic-, from FMP, with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists. At french side guard Anthony Racine ('94) collected 19 with 5/6 threes and forward Damien Inglis ('95) nailing 15 points and pulling down 5 rebounds. French arrived to last quarter 5 points up (60-55), but they couldn't keep the advantage. The 47% at three points line from french prospects (8/17) wasn't enough.
In the game for the third final spot Turkey beat Poland (97-77) after a great performance of Tayfun Erulku ('94), with 27 points and 6 rebounds. Youngster Kenan Sipahi ('95) added 11 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds, while Burak Yildizli ('94) didn't play. The great turkish second quarter (26-11), the key against a squad with Norman Zuber ('94) scoring 26 with 3/4 behind the arc.
Italy finished fifth of the tournament after today's victory over Germany (61-62). Amedeo Tessitori ('94) led the winners with 12 points and 7 rebounds. For germans, good game of Philip Daubner ('94) with 15 points (3/3 threes) and 4 assists.
Finally Slovenia beat Greece (20-0) because greeks didn't want to play, like yesterday.
Serbian Nikola Jankovic ('94) was named MVP of the tournament and also best rebounder, turkish Tayfun Erulku ('94) the best scorer and turkish Kenan Sipahi ('95) the best passer.
