FMP Zeleznik won the third Euroleague's Nike International Junior Tournament of the season, held in Belgrade (Serbia), after beating INSEP in the big final (77-69). Forward Nikola Siladi ('92), from FMP, was named MVP of the tournament. The rest of member of the All-Tournament team are: Mathis Keita ('92) from INSEP, Luka Mitrovic ('93) from Hemofarm, Luka Radovic ('92) from Buducnost and Philipp Neumann ('92) from Brose. FMP's victory will make one other team happy, too. Due to the fact that FMP is the reigning continental champion, and therefore had already been invited to the Nike International Junior Tournament in Paris, France from May 6 to 9, the automatic qualification it would have earned on Sunday will become a wild card to be awarded to another junior team. For the Nike International Junior Tournament in Paris, which takes place during the 2010 Euroleague Final Four, FMP joins two previous tournament winners who qualified earlier, Zalgiris Kaunas from the Citta di Roma in the Italian capital in late December and Cajasol from the Ciutat de L'Hospitalet tournament in Spain in early January.

In the big Belgrade's final serbians were led by Nenad Miljenovic ('93), with 11 points, 12 rebounds and 3 steals, while youngster Vasilije Micic ('94) added 14 points with 2/4 behind the arc. The great team game, with five players in double figures, one of the keys of the victory. For french squad Hugo Invernizzi ('93) missed all six threes he shot, but he finished with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals, and Mathis Keita ('92) collected 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

Buducnost took the final third place after beating Partizan (64-68). Marko Mugosa ('93) shined again for montenegrin team with 23 points and 7 rebounds. At serbian side center Vukasin Vujovic ('93) nailed 20 points and pulled down 7 rebounds.

Hemofarm Vrsac finished fifth after winning Brose (72-83). Philipp Neumann ('92) wasn't enough for germans (20 points and 4 rebounds in 17'), shocking against a team led by Mitrovic, who collected 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals.

Finally Red Star finished last on standings after losing against ASVEL (80-77). Forward Gide Noel ('93) made a double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds) leading his team to the victory. For Belgrade's squad Ognjen Filipovic ('93) scored 20 points, grabbed 7 boards and dished 6 assists.

 

The next and last NIJT will be held in Barking Abbey Academy (London) from February 19th to 21st.
