Romanian Vlad Moldoveanu ('88) made last night his particular show with American University (NCAA) leading the team to the victory over Lafayette (78-60) with a huge game: 26 points (3/6 twos, 3/5 threes and 11/13 ft), 9 rebounds and 6 assists. The victory, coupled with Navy's 85-73 loss at Colgate, clinches the fourth seed for American in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament and home-court advantage in the quarterfinals.
Gonzaga won its 10th straight league title (West Coast Conference) after beating San Francisco (75-69), with german Elias Harris ('89) -at the pic- being an important piece of Bulldogs win: 17 points (6/10 FG and 6/7 FT). Gonzaga's 10 straight titles is tied for second-longest streak in NCAA history, after UCLA's 13 titles. The Zags are the top seed in next weekend's WCC tournament, with a bye into the semifinals.
Another european shining last night was swedish Jeff Taylor ('89), who led Vanderbilt over Arkansas (89-72) with 18 points (6/10 FG and 6/6 FT), 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
