According to USA Today "No. 1 Northland (Columbus, Ohio) and No. 2 Yates (Houston) won't be at Coppin State on April 1-3 for the second NHSI. Like most state associations, Ohio and Texas have not given their teams permission to play a postseason event after their own state championships. However, the Florida High School Association and North Carolina Independent Schools Association have agreed to allow some of their top teams to participate, and that could open the door for more state associations next year". In the first round of the bracket April 1: No. 3 Findlay Prep vs. Charlotte Christian; No. 7 Oak Hill vs. Mountain State Academy (Beckley, W.Va.); No.15 Winter Park, Fla., vs. No.17 Christ School (Arden, N.C.); No.12 Montverde (Fla.)
