Germany U-18 will face Australia in the final of U-18 Albert Schweitzer Tournament, in Mannheim (Germany). Philipp Neumann ('92) & Co. qualifyied after beating USA, while auatralians did the same with Germany U-17. The final standings from 9th to 16th positions are already set: Greece (9), China (10), Brazil (11), Israel (12), France (13), Japan (14), Argentina (15) and New Zeland (16). The rest of positions will be known tomorrow, last day of the tournament. 

 

Germany U-18 had a tough game against the americans in the US Sports Arena (64-59). Guard Falko Theilig ('92) -at the pic- finished as the best scorer of germans with 13 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal in 24 minutes, while MVP Philipp Neumann ('92) added 11 with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks in 22'. Daniel Theis ('92) also made a good job in the paint: 8 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks.

 

In the other semifinal Germany U-17 couldn't make it to the final after losing easy (75-53) against Australia. Germans struggled at three points line (1/14), and also making 19 turnovers. Paul Albrecht ('93) nailed 11 points and pulling down 3 rebounds, while Besnik Bekteshi ('93) scored also 11, with 2 steals. The final between Germany U-18 and Australia will be played at the US Sports Arena tomorrow at 16.00h.

 

In the game for the ninth place Greece beat China (48-60), with guard Socratis Psaropoulos ('92) having 16 points and 5 steals and Lynos Chrysikopoulos ('92), from Aris, nailing 6 points, grabbing 11 boards and putting 3 blocks.

 

In the battle for the 11th spot Israel lost against Brazil (60-53). The job of guard Bar Timor ('92) wasn't enough: 13 points, 3 rebounds and 1 block. His teammate Sean Labanowski ('92) added 12 with 4 rebounds and 1 block.

 

France finished its participation crashing Japan (72-117), but the 13th position don't give good sensations for the European Championship of this summer, even Leo Westermann ('92) and Vincent Pourchot ('92) were injured in Mannheim. Amazing stats of many french prospects today, but all of them against japanese. Evan Fournier ('92) scored 34 with 10 rebounds and 4 steals, center Rudy Gobert ('92) had 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks, and Mathis Keita ('92), 21 points, 13 assists, 7 steals and 5 blocks.

 

Finally New Zealand finished last on the standings after losing against Argentina (72-76).
