France, Latvia, Montenegro and Turkey will participate this week-end (from Friday to Sunday) in the U-16 Bellegarde Tournament, that will be held in Bellegarde-sur-Valserine, a french town close to swiss border. Eurohopes will travel there to keep you updated about what's going on with four squads that will play the Division "A" European Championship this August in Bar (Montenegro).
Latvian federation announced some days ago the team that will travel to France. Ceslavs Mateikovics ('94) and Oskars Reinfelds ('94), some of the prospects to follow.
France arrived Monday to town to start to prepare the tournament without Charly Maraux ('94) and Alexandre Chassang ('94), both in the Jordan Brand Classic in New York, and Mouhamadou Jaiteh ('94), Jean-Francois Basileu ('94) and Raphael Binvignat ('94), injured. In the list we can find prospects like Boris Dallo ('94) and Anthony Racine ('94). Both are playing with INSEP Centre Federal. Interesting also the participation of youngster Damien Inglis ('95).
Let's talk about Turkey. The list is already announced in its Federation. Tayfun Erülkü ('94), from Efes Pilsen, is their main reference. Also is a good option to follow youngster Kenan Sipahi ('95), one of the best european prospects borned in 1995. Burak Yildizli ('94) -number 2 of Eurohopes in his age- won't be in Bellegarde due to coach's decision.
Finally there isn't an official list from Montenegro squad yet, but for sure Nikola Ivanovic ('94) -at the pic- is "the man". Actually there are 17 players practicing, but no names published. The guard averaged 16.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists last summer in the Division "A" U-16 European Championship of Kaunas (Lithuania). Not bad. Filip Knezevic ('94) will miss the tournament in Bellegarde due to a car accident (he is in coma). Montenegro will host next edition of the U-16 EC. Important year for its basketball federation.
