Second day of the U-19 final round italian championship in Bologna, and also second day of Achile Polonara ('91) collecting more than 30 valoration, leading Teramo to its second win. They beat Trieste (78-73) with the prospect pouring 22 points (6/11 twos, 0/5 threes and 10/19 ft), grabbing 17 rebounds and putting 5 blocks. Is the man of this competition's beginning. Let's check what happened in all the groups.

 

Group A:

-Teramo 78 Trieste 73: Achile Polonara ('91) made another great game, tied till the last minute. Team coached by Vincenzo Di Meglio added its second win in two games with the forward collecting a 33 valoration: 22 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. Guard Antonello Ricci ('92) added 17 points, 9 steals and 7 boards. Not bad. At the other side Marco Catenacci ('92) collected a double-double: 10 points and 10 rebounds.

-Udine 73 Montepaschi 86: Siena squad is the other team of this group with two wins. The job of Marco Maganza ('91), best scorer of the journey with 27 points (10/15 FG), wasn't enough. 7-foot georgian Nika Metrevelli ('91) led the winners with 20 and 10/12 twos.

Standings: Teramo (2-0), Montepaschi (2-0), Trieste (0-2) and Udine (0-2). 

 

Group B:

-Virtus Bologna 75 Reggiana 61: Center Filippo Baldi Rossi ('91) became the main weapon of Virtus second win, after collecting a 30 valoration with 17 points, 17 rebounds and 3 steals. The 24-7 of the second quarter lifted them. Power-forward Giovanni Pini ('92), the best of Reggiana: 18 points with 7/10 FG and 5 rebounds.

-Pordenone 67 Stella Azzurra 78: Guard Simone Colonnelli ('91) scored easy again (20 with 4/6 from downtown) and Stella Azzurra added its second victory also. Giampaolo Ricci ('91) added a double-double: 17 points and 15 boards. For Pordenone youngster Bruno Ondo Mengue ('92) finished as the best player with 15 points and 6/11 FG.

Standings: Stella Azzurra (2-0), Virtus Bologna (2-0), Pordenone (0-2) and Reggiana (0-2). 

 

Group C:

-Moncalieri 58 Scavolini 77: Another team with a 2-0 record after two days. Shooting-guard Alessandro Amici ('91) poured 22 with 11 rebounds and 6 assists, leading the victory of squad coached by Giacomo Baioni. Riccardo Milone ('92) wasn't enough for Moncalieri even he scored 23 points with 9/13 FG.

-Benetton 99 Tiber 51: Another huge victory of Treviso kids, but with 2.24 Samuel Deguara ('91) leaving the game due to knee problems after only 5 minutes. Alessandro Gentile ('92) made his particular show with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in only 18 minutes. Fabio Bistarelli ('91), the best of Tiber with 13 points and 8 rebounds.

Standings: Benetton (2-0), Scavolini (2-0), Tiber (0-2) and Moncalieri (0-2). 

 

Group D:

-Desio 56 Bergamo 84: Only one team with two victories in this group. With Marco Planezio ('91) collecting a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals) team coached by Andrea Schiavi added an easy win. For Desio shined Stefano Fortini ('91) with 13 points, 13 boards and 2 steals.

-Fortitudo 63 Eurobasket Roma 67: in a very tied game Roma recovered from first defeat due to a great performance of Eugenio Fanti ('91), who finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 steals. For Bologna team Nicola Bastone ('92) poured 15 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.

Standings: Bergamo (2-0), Fortitudo (1-1), Roma (1-1) and Desio (0-2).
