The U-17 italian final round championship started today in Vasto with some great individual performances, many of them from kids borned in 1994 like Amedeo Tessitori ('94) or Aristide Landi ('94). Montepaschi Siena and Benetton Treviso started strong. Let's see what happened in this first day.  

 

Group A:

 

-Montepaschi Siena 88 Palestrina 68: The great performance of Riccardo Ciccarelli ('93) wasn't enough to win, even he nailed 30 points (12/19 FG) with 5 boards. Forward Giovanni Severini ('93) led the winners with 21 and 4/9 from downtown.

-Orobica 73 Venezia 68: Tommaso Carnovali ('93) made a double-double (17 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists) for Orobica, while at Venezia side shined youngster Steffano Bossi ('94) with 16 and 4 steals.

Standings: Montepaschi (1-0), Orobica (1-0), Venezia (0-1) and Palestrina (0-1).

 

Group B:

 

-Biella 72 Juvecaserta 73: One of the big names of this first day couldn't lift Biella to the win. Forward Eric Lombardi ('93) collected a 39 valoration with 32 points (13/23 FG), 16 rebounds and 3 steals. For Caserta squad guard Alessandro Porfido ('93) poured 19 pulling down 8 rebounds.

-Virtus Bologna 74 Stamura 72: Youngster Aristide Landi ('94), unstoppable leading Virtus to the win with 28 points, 13 boards and 3 steals. Mattia Magrini ('93), the best of Stamura with 28 points and 10/22 FG. 

Standings: Virtus Bologna (1-0), Juvecaserta (1-0), Biella (0-1) and Stamura (0-1).

 

Group C:

 

-Benetton 78 Latina 62: Croatian Armin Mazic ('93) led the victory with 11 points, 13 rebounds and 2 steals. Guard Andrea Pastore ('94) scored 18 but with 3/13 behind the arc.

-Junior Libertas 85 Virtus Siena 76: Point-guard Amedeo Della Valle ('93), the best scorer of winners with 19 points and 7/13 FG. For Siena squad Amedeo Tessitori ('94) wasn't enough even he collected a 41 valoration with 30 points (12/16 FG), 14 boards and 1 steal.

Standings: Benetton (1-0), Junior Libertas (1-0), Virtus Siena (0-1) and Latina (0-1).

 

Group D:

 

-Varese 71 Stella Azzurra 90: Forward Matteo Fallucca ('93) made a good job with 26 points and 7/13 threes, leading his team to the win. Point-guard Luca Bellotti ('93) poured 20 points with 6/11 twos for Varese.

-Fortitudo Bologna 66 Lecce 55: Matteo Chillo ('93), who shined some days ago in the U-19 tournament, finished as the best player of winners with 18 points, 12 boards and 2 steals. Federico Durini ('93) nailed 17 with 3/7 behind the arc for Lecce.
