Many young prospects are shining in the Qualifying Round for next 2011 Eurobasket, that will be held in Lithuania. Some teams are in a great way to make one of the five spots, like Montenegro, Great Britain or Georgia, but let's check what players are in a good shape, and what happened on the last days of competition. Pay attention to some of them shining in senior level like finnish Sasu Salin ('91).

 

Group A:

-Israel 110 Latvia 88: Janis Strelnieks ('89) wasn't enough no win in Israel, where they were losing by 19 points in the first quarter. The guard finished with 17 points with 2/4 from downtown and 6 assists.

-Italy 82 Finland 73: Guard Antti Kanervo ('89) poured 3 points pulling down 2 rebounds in 9 minutes at the losing effort.

-Montenegro 71 Italy 62: Vladimir Mihailovic ('90) added his piece to the victory tart with 3 minutes.

-Finland 84 Israel 83: Guard Sasu Salin ('91) surprised everybody with 11 points and 3/3 from downtown in only 10 minutes, being important of the win.

-Latvia 87 Finland 67: Janis Strelnieks ('89) scored 5 points, dished 5 assists and grabbed 3 boards for the winners. Sasu Salin ('91) made a good job again, but not enough: 15 points with 2/4 threes in 18 minutes.

-Israel 77 Montenegro 73: Vladimir Mihailovic ('90) played a couple of minutes at the losing effort.

 

Standings: Montenegro (3-1), Israel (3-1), Latvia (2-2), Italy (1-3) and Finland (1-3).

 

Group B:

-Great Britain 104 FYROM 96: Devan Bailey ('89) didn't play at local side, while Marko Simonovski ('89) did the same for visitors. 

-Hungary 74 Bosnia & Herzegovina 70: Adam Hanga ('89) led the win with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Nihad Dedovic ('90) made a good job for bosnians: 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals.

-Ukraine 80 Hungary 71: Big game of forward Adam Hanga ('89) with 22 points (3/6 threes) and 3 steals, but not enough. Denys Lukashov ('89) nailed 5 points, with 5 rebounds and 3 steals at local side.

-Bosnia & Herzegovina 80 Great Britain 84: No youngsters played in the game.

-Great Britain 90 Ukraine 76: Devan Bailey ('89) didn't play at brit side, while Denys Lukashov ('89) added 4 points, 5 boards and 4 assists at the losing effort.

-FYROM 70 Bosnia & Herzegovina 56: Marko Simonovski ('89) played 5 minutes at local squad (1 rebound with 0/1 from downtown).

 

Standings: Great Britain (4-0), FYROM (3-1), Bosnia & Herzegovina (1-3), Ukraine (1-3) and Hungary (1-3).

 

Group C:

-Portugal 69 Belgium 78: No prospects played the game.

-Bulgaria 74 Poland 70: No prospects played this game.

-Georgia 73 Portugal 57: Giorgi Shermadini ('89) made a good job for hosts with 8 points and 8 rebounds in 14 minutes.

-Belgium 74 Bulgaria 69: Aleksandar Georgiev ('90) scored 5 points and pulled down 5 boards in 15 minutes in the losing effort.

-Bulgaria 79 Georgia 83: Bozhidar Avramov ('90) had 3 points and 1 rebound in 10 minutes for locals, while Tornike Shengelia ('91) added 5 points and 4 boards in 11 minutes for winners.

-Poland 93 Belgium 73: No prospects played the game.

 

Standings: Georgia (3-1), Belgium (3-1), Poland (2-2), Bulgaria (2-2) and Portugal (0-4). 

 

The first of each group and the two best seconds will play next Eurobasket 2011.
