After three years playing it Real Madrid won its first title in the U-16 Villa de la Orotava Tournament, played in Tenerife (Canary Islands). The white squad beat Gran Canaria in the big final (75-89) with Javier de la Blanca ('95) shining: 19 points with 9/16 twos and 6 rebounds. Point-guard Joaquin Portugués ('95), the best at the other side with 23 points in 26 minutes. Alberto Martin ('95), from Real Madrid, the Tournament MVP.

 

Valencia Basket finished third after beating Canterbury (63-77) even another good job of Jonathan Kasibabu ('96): 32 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks. The winners were led by Adrià Duch ('95) with 18 and 4 steals.

 

FC Barcelona was fifth after crashing Tenerife Region (35-105). Bernat Camarasa ('95), unstoppable with 25 points (11/14 twos), 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. At the other side Daniel Pérez ('95) finished as the best scorer with 9 points, but 4/16 FG.

 

Finally Ventspils ended seventh after beating Oldenburg with two overtimes (79-72). Artis Blumbergs ('95) led the latvians with 28 points, 13 rebounds and 6 steals. For germans, Jan-Niklas Wimberg ('95) nailed 27 points, with 16 rebounds and 5 steals.
