Croatian guard Mario Hezonja ('95) has been the biggest surprise of the NIJT first tournament, held in Rome (Italy) with Fenerbahce Ulker taking the title. The 1.96 prospect arrived to KK Zagreb last summer from Dubrovnik, and last week he exploted in the Euroleague tournament with crazy stats: 19.5 points (53% twos, 36% threes and 79% ft), 10.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals. Eurohopes talked with him. After his performance in Italy he explains that "I feel great, I felt even better that we won the tournament, but it's OK". Hezonja has no doubts about what he expects for this season: "My goal is to win croatian junior and cadet championships, and with the U-16 national team defend the european title if is possible, but it's gonna be very dififcult".

Mario reminds us, physically and how he plays, with current ACB Fuenlabrada guard Xavi Rabaseda ('89). He was injured last summer and didn't participate in the EC. His game displays a high energy intensity, which has led to very spectacular contests in Rome. He has an extraordinary jumping ability, great intensity shooting close to the basket, versatility on both court sides and capacity to play in four positions (1-4). He is not very regular shooting, but if he is hot he can score from any position. As soon as he knows the game and how to control his emotions on the court he will get more confidence.
