According to FIBA Europe the 2011 European Youth Championships draw took place on Saturday at the centuries-old Krakow City Hall in Poland. A total of 112 Men's teams and 91 Women's teams were involved in the Division A and Division B draws as National Federations from all over Europe, as far apart as Norway and Cyprus, have at least one team participating in one of the age categories.

FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson and FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin, who conducted the draw, recalled the wonderful atmosphere they experienced in summer 2010 at the U18 European Championship Men final in Lithuania, the game that set the attendance record for Youth Competitions with a crowd of more than 13,000, as one of their best memories.

The Secretary General urged National Federations to consider the development of young players, who are "the future of European basketball", a target as important in youth competitions as winning is.

Each one of the Division A European Championships across all three age groups (U20, U18, U16) will be disputed by 16 teams, in both Men and Women.

The U16 European Championship Men Division B, which will be hosted in Skopje, is the tournament that will see the largest number of participants as 23 national federations will send their teams to the capital of F.Y.R. of Macedonia this summer.

A further six national federations will be represented in the U16 European Championships Division C, Men and Women.

U-20 Division "B" EC: Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), 14th-24th July

U-18 Division "A" EC: Poland, 21st-31st July

U-18 Divison "B" EC: Varna (Bulgaria), 21st-31st July

U-16 Division "A" EC: Pardubice and Hradovec Kralove (Czech Republic), 28th July - 7th August

U-16 Division "B" EC: Skopje (FYROM), 28th July - 7th August
