The second stage of PrimeTime Shootout 2011 was disputed at Morgantown, West Virginia, last weekend. Finest high school basketball teams ranked at famous USA Today Super 25 like Oak Hill Academy (7), Montrose Christian (9) and Arlington Country Day (15) brought their talent to West Virginia Coliseum where the action took place. The european that shined most those days was the Serbian-born Stefan Jankovic (’93) –at the pic-, that plays for Huntington Prep (West Virginia). Jankovic, a recent add of the Express, shined with 16 points in an overtime lost thriller against Chester (Pennsylvania) and was named MVP for the Express in another loss against St. Benedict’s Prep (New Jersey) performing 16 points and 8 rebounds. Jankovic received also another good news with the official offer of Georgetown University. The prospect told his point of view about his recruiting after the tournament to www.wvillustrated.com. Other europeans who took part of the event were english Kofi Josephs (’91), latvian Andris Misters (’92), georgian Vaja Janashia (‘92) and danish Kevin Larsen (’93). Josephs is averaging 7.9 points at Arlington Country Day (Florida), according to MaxPreps. The guard didn’t score at the win against struggling St. Benedict’s Prep and the loss in overtime against Montrose Christian (Maryland), but he contributed rebounding and dishing dimes. Misters is averaging 5.4 points according to NJ.com at St. Benedict’s Prep (New Jersey). But he didn’t score in the tough loss against Arlington Country Day and took part at pride win against Huntington Prep. Janashia is almost an unknown player of Our Savian New American School (New York) that plays forward position. Larsen, who is averaging 6.9 points according to Gazette.net, didn’t score neither at the win against powerful Arlington Country Day.
Turkish Can Korkmaz (’92) was teammate of Kofi Josephs at Arlington Country Day during a few weeks, but he returned recently to his former team Pertevniyal of the turkish second division for personal reasons, sources nearby to team told to Eurohopes. The third stage of PrimeTime Shootout will take place at Philadelphia this weekend with more fascinating players.
