Jarelle Reischel ('92) moved from his hometown, at Hamburg (Germany), to Point Pleasant Beach (New Jersey) two years ago to play basketball and go to college. The prospect has double citizenship German and American and played with U-16 Germany national team. Just landed, being a sophomore for Point Pleasant Beach, averaged 21 points and 9 rebounds for the Garnet Gulls. Last season being a junior improve his stats to 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.5 steals per game and some colleges like Penn State and Seton Hall showed interest to recruit him. At the beginning of the season Reischel finally verbally committed to Rice.
This season is even better for the underrated small forward that is averaging 24.4 points and scored his season high Monday in the huge win 67 to 35 against Keansburg. Reischel scored 25 of his 35 points in the first half to climb his peak of the season. In 2008 he played with the german NT the U-16 Division "B" European Championship, averaging 11.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals. They finished first and promoted to Division "A". In that team the best were Mathis Mönninghoff ('92), actually in Gonzaga (NCAA), and Philipp Neumann ('92), #6 of his generation by Eurohopes.
