Hungary is still dreaming with the Eurobasket of Lithuania this summer. With guard Adam Hanga ('89) as their main weapon they will fight this August against Finland and Portugal for the two remaining spots in the final tournament. Hanga is making a great season with Albacomp -currently at the top of the league-, but some days ago they lost the final of the Cup. He is one of the most interesting european prospects born in 1989 without playing in a big league, but shortly he will leave his home country looking for new challenges. It will be a great chance if we see him in Lithuania. Eurohopes staff contacted him.
-Your great performance (25+12) wasn't enough in the final of the Hungarian Cup. What happened?
Szolnok has a great team this year. It was a good final with full packed arena. We could not play our system as usually, then we did some silly mistakes as well. I scored 25 points but we could not manage to win the game. But the story has not finished yet.
-This season you are making another step forward in your career, averaging 17.8pts (39% from downtown) and 4.5 rebounds. What is your goal as a team and also as a player?
I enjoy my time in the field. We want to win the title. This is our goal for the season as a team. As a player I am also searching for new challenges, based on where I can develop more. The goal for me is to be able to challenge myself abroad on good level of basketball league. I feel that I'm ready for it.
-In the Qualifications for the Eurobasket you made a great job with your NT. What is the future of Hungarian squad?
Our goal is to qualification for Eurobasket 2011. I can't wait to be in the selection again with the guys, a young team is forming there in good mood. Our little country had the chance to take part in the European Championship in 1999 for the last time. We would like to change that in this summer.
-Talking about next generation of prospects of your country there are Vojvoda ('90), Ellingsfeld ('91), Dobos ('93),... How do you see their future?
They are good friend of mine. They have to play as much as they can and be an important player of their team. Then, need to challenge themselves abroad.
-What is your dream? Euroleague? NBA?
I want to go step by step. Currently I play here in Hungary but next year more then sure I will be abroad. By time I want to be high level player in Europe, and then we will see.
-Do you expect to participate in Treviso Eurocamp like you did a couple of editions ago? What do you remember of that?
Yes, I will be in Treviso. It is a great camp with excellent players and fantastic coaches. I have developed my skills in the past two years since last time I was in Treviso. I want to show it. Looking forward to be there.
