The University of Connecticut won last night the NCAA final tournament after beating Butler in the big final (53-41), held in the Reliant Stadium of Houston (Texas). Team coached by Jim Calhoun remained unbeaten during all the bracket, with victories over Bucknell (81-52), Cincinnati (69-58), San Diego State (74-67), Arizona (65-63) and Kentucky (56-55). Against the Bulldogs showed a crazy defense, sending them to the title. At the winners side, two german prospects: Niels Giffey ('91) and Enosch Wolf ('90).

Against the Bulldogs Giffey, a 6'7'' forward, played 24 minutes, scoring 4 points (1/2 twos, 0/1 threes and 2/2 ft) and pulling down 6 boards. During the season he has averaged 2.2 points. 1.4 rebounds and 9.9 minutes in 41 games. In only two contests he played more than yesterday. Wolf, a 7'1'' center, didn't play against Butler. And this season? Only 7 games for him: 1.0 point and 0.9 rebounds in 3.7 minutes.
