KK Cibona and BC Fenerbahce Ulker -at the pic- will play tomorrow the big final of the U-14 Belgrade Basketball Festival, held in serbian capital. Croatians and turkish, after finishing first of their groups, won today the semifinals against KK Partizan and KK Red Star. Their main prospects shined again leading their teams to the victory. Croatian guard Lovro Mazalin ('97) collected a 49 index, while Ata Sarikan ('97) made a great double-double. Let's check what happened today.
Olimpija Ljubljana 57 Bosna Sarajevo 60: Slovenians ended the tournament with a 0-3 record, and last on the standings, after shocking against the good performance of Atif Durak ('97), who had 24 points (4/7 from downtown), 8 rebounds and 5 assists (even 9 turnovers). The inside power of Dzenan Pilav ('97) also hurt: 11 points and 20 rebounds. At the losing effort the good job of Nejc Baric ('97) wasn't enough: 26 points, 7 steals and 6 rebounds.
Fenerbahce 60 Red Star 50: Turkish made it to the final after beating serbians behind another show of Ata Sarikan ('97), who finished with 18 points, 17 boards and 4 assists. Beside him also shined youngster Dogankan Celik ('98) with 16 points (7/12 FG) and 6 rebounds. And for Red Star? Vojislav Stojanovic ('97) ended with the best index behind a double-double: 16 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.
Cibona 64 Partizan 59: Lovro Mazalin ('97) is the big name of the event, and today showed this again driving his team to the final with a 49 index. The lefty guard scored 33 points (12/16 FG), pulled down 11 rebounds and made 3 steals (with 10 fouls drawn). Croatians started the last quarter with a 13 points deficit, but they recovered with a 25-7 run in the last 10 minutes. For serbians forward Stefan Nikolic ('97) nailed 19 points with 9/19 FG.
