BC Fenerbahce Ulker is the new champion of the U-14 Belgrade Basketball Festival, held in the serbian capital this week. Turkish beat KK Cibona in the big final (64-70) behind a good performance of center Berat Tasci ('97), who scored 18 points (7/14 FG), pulled down 9 rebounds and put 3 blocks. But he wasn't the only prospect at winner side who hurt inside the paint. Youngster Dogancan Celik ('98) collected a double-double (11 points and 10 boards), flirting with the triple-double after adding 8 assists. Ugurcan Turunç ('97) -at the pic- also made a good job: 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Team coached by Erdarl Erdinç ended the tournament unbeaten. Who shined at the other side? Lovro Mazalin ('97), of course. The guard finished with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 steals, but not enough. Guard Toni Kumanovic ('97) added 16 points, 6 boards and 3 steals and forward Tomislav Durinovic ('97) 16 points, 5 boards and dishing 2 assists.

 

In the game for the final third position Partizan crashed Red Star by 39 points (84-45). After arriving at half time only 9 points up they killed the opponent coming from the locker room led by center Filip Anicic ('97): 13 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks in 23 minutes. Point-guard Stefan Jevdenijevic ('97) added 14 points, 4 boards and 2 steals. At the losing effort Vojislav Stojanovic ('97) ended as the best scorer with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks, but with a crazy shooting card (5/23 twos).

 

Final standings: 1-BC Fenerbahce Ulker, 2-KK Cibona, 3-KK Partizan, 4-KK Red Star, 5-Bosna Sarajevo and 6-Olimpija Ljubljana.
