Sweden has finished the U-20 Nordic Championship, held these days in Espoo (Finland), with a 3-0 record after crashing today Denmark (50-86). Team coached by Stefan Bergman was the only one competing in Division "A" this summer in the U-20 European Championship, so has made a good step forward to prepare the event of Bilbao (Spain). Against danish kids Alexander Lindqvist ('91) led the win with 19 points and 3/5 threes, while Davidson's Chris Czerapowicz ('91) -at the pic- added 17 with 6/12 FG. Alabama's 2.15 center Carl Engström ('91) finished with 9 points and 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. And at the losing effort? Thomas Laerke ('91) nailed 18 with 6/16 FG, being selected as the Best Scorer of the event (22.7). His teammate Jonas Zohore Bergstedt ('91) added 16 and 8 boards, earning also the title of Best Rebounder (8.7).
In the other contest of the day Finland added its second victory of the tournament after beating Norway (84-63). 2.10 Mikael Sandberg ('91) finished as the best at the winning effort with 14 points in 17 minutes, while Carl Lindbom ('91) scored 14 and pulling down 4 rebounds. Maine's Killian Cato ('92) didn't waste his time either (13 with 2/4 threes in 11'), while Antto Nikkarinen ('91) dished 6 assists being named the Best Passer (3.7). At norwegian side North Carolina Central Karamo Jawara ('91) scored 16 with 6/11 FG, while Magnus Engen ('91) had 15 with 2/2 from downtown.
Final standings: Sweden (3-0), Finland (2-1), Norway (1-2) and Denmark (0-3).
