Virtus Siena is the new U-17 Italian Champion after crashing UGF Virtus Bologna in the big final (102-71) behind a huge performance of Amedeo Tessitori ('94). The prospect collected a 50 valoration in only 28 minutes: 34 points (14/23 twos, 1/1 threes and 3/7 ft), 22 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. After arriving to half time with only 7 points up Siena killed the hosts with a 26-12 run in the third quarter. The difference in the rebound battle (61 to 34), also one of the keys. Beside Tessitori also shined Matteo Imbrò ('94) -next season will play for Virtus Bologna- with 24 points (8/19 FG), 5 rebounds and 5 assists, while Marco Cucco ('94) added 15 points, 6 boards and 5 assists. And at the losing effort? Gherardo Sabatini ('94) scored 16 with 4/7 from downtown and Mattia de Ruvo ('94) nailed 15 pulling down 5 boards.

 

In the game for the 3rd/4th position Basket Crabs Rimini beat Olimpia Milano (73-78) led by Nicolò Marengo ('94): 16 points (10/10 ft), 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. In a tied contest was important also the performance of georgian Giga Janelidze ('95). The youngster had 13 points, 15 rebounds and 1 block. At Milano side Lorenzo Bartoli ('94) finished with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals, while Andrea Amato ('94) added 18 (8/18 FG).

 

Who where selected in the All-Tournament Team? Matteo Imbrò ('94) and Amedeo Tessitori ('94) from Virtus Siena, Giga Janelidze ('95) from Crabs Rimini, Simone Fontecchio ('95) from UGF Virtus Bologna and Lorenzo Bartoli ('94) from Olimpia Milano. Fabrizio Ambrassa (Crabs Rimini) was named the best coach.
