The U-20 Torneo Internazionale "V. de Silvestro - B. Meneghin", held in Domegge di Cadore (Italy), started yesterday with victories from Slovenia and Greece. Swedish Chris Czerapowicz ('91), from Davidson (NCAA), finished as the best scorer of the opener (27 points), but not enough to win. Let's check what happened in both contests.

 

-Italy 70 Slovenia 72: In a very tied contest slovenians started adding their first victory, in this case against the hosts. After a scoreless first quarter (8-13), both sides showed their potential in offense, with 2.13 center Alen Omic ('92), from Zlatorog, leading the victory with 23 points. Beside him forward Marko Pajic ('92) added 15 and Mitja Nikolic ('91) 10. At local side Achille Polonara ('91), from Banca Tercas Teramo, had 15, while Alessandro Gentile ('92) 14.

 

-Greece 86 Sweden 82: The huge contest of Czerapowicz (27) wasn't enough. His teammate Andreas Person ('91) added 19 and Alexander Lindqvist ('91) 15. NCAA players Carl Engström ('91), from Alabama, and Charles Barton ('92), commited to Oregon State, scored 2 and 5. What happened for greeks? Forward Andreas Kanonidis ('91), from Ilysiakos, nailed 17, while Spyridon Motsenigos ('92) had 13.  

 

Standings: Greece and Slovenia (1-0) and Italy and Sweden (0-1).
