Italy won the U-20 Torneo Internazionale "V.de Silvestro - B. Meneghin", held in Domegge di Cadore (Italy), after beating Greece in the last day (77-53), finishing with a 2-1 record, the same as greeks and Slovenia. They are getting ready for the Division "A" European Championship, that will be held in Bilbao (Spain). In the contest against Greece Benetton Treviso's Alessandro Gentile ('92) nailed 22 points, helped by Riccardo Moraschini ('91) with 14 and Nicolo Melli ('91) and Achile Polonara ('91) wth 13 apiece (last one with 14 rebounds). Greeks scored 29 points from minute 10 to the end (no comment). Best scorers at the losing effort were Dimitrios Katsivelis ('91) with 12 and Emmanouil Koukoulas ('91) with 10.
In the other contest of the last day Sweden lost to Slovenia (83-89) even Andreas Person ('91), who had 23 points. Alexander Lindqvist ('91) added 15 and Viktor Gaddefors ('92) 11. Davidson's Chris Czerapowicz ('91) nailed 10, Alabama's Carl Engström ('91) 9 and Oregon State's Charles Barton ('92) 8.
Final standings: Italy, Greece and Slovenia (2-1) and Sweden (0-3).
