While Lithuania U19 was participating in the World Chmapionship of Latvia the U20 squad was preparing the European Championship with an interesting tournament in Barakaldo (Spain). And they showed good sensations after winning the three games they played. In the opener they beat Italy (73-69) after a 12-0 run in last minutes and 18 points from Rutgers (NCAA) Gilvydas Biruta ('91) -at the pic-, while in the second day they defeat Montenegro (68-65) behind 13 from Saulius Kulvietis ('91). They finished the event with an overtime win against Spain (80-81) even the great game of Jose Pozas ('92). The point-guard scored 24. The best scorer of winners was 2.15 center Mindaugas Kupsas ('91) with 20.
This Thursday they will start the event in Bilbao (Spain) sharing group D with Italy, Ukraine and Germany.
Final standings: Lithuania (3-0), Spain, Montenegro and Italy (1-2).
