A new edition of the U16 Las Palmas Tournament, held in Canary Islands (Spain), started yesterday. Big names in the opener, with the game between Barça Regal and Canterbury Idecnet as the best of this first day. Catalan squad won (68-66) behind swedish Ludvig Hakanson ('96), who ended with 22 points (4/7 threes), 6 rebounds and 3 steals in 25 minutes. At the losing effort the african duo Bourama Sidibe ('97) & Jonathan Kasibabu ('96) shined as always, with 20 points, 26 rebounds and 5 blocks and 15 points, 18 boards and 3 assists. In the other contest of this group Gran Canaria defeated Cajasol Sevilla (71-61). Thomas Van Haaren ('96), the key: 30 points and 11 rebounds. Former FC Barcelona player Adrian Martinez ('96) wasn't enough at the losing effort even he finished with a double-double: 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 steals (even 8 turnovers).

 

In the other group Vasas Budapest, from Hungary, crashed spanish Arenas (26-110) with a amazing difference in the valoration: -7 to 146. Mihaly Szollosi ('96), the best: 19 points (8/10 FG) in 14 minutes. Finally Real Madrid defeated Unelco Tenerife (52-81). The win was led by Ignacio Diez ('96), who had 18 points and 3/3 behind the arc. Bruno Diatta ('96), the best at the other side with 14 points, 15 boards and 4 blocks.
