Alex (or Olexiy) Len ('93) made his debut with Maryland Terrapins in the NCAA after a 10 games penalty for his sign with a pro team in Ukraine. And he appeared with a great performance for a freshman in the victory over Albany (83-72), ending with 14 points (6/9 twos and 2/4 free throws), 8 rebounds and 3 blocks (even 5 turnovers) in only 27 minutes. The 7'1'' center is in the top5 of Eurohopes 1993 ranking of his generation.
Len grew up in Dnipro and last season he played a couple of games at VTB League, even mostly with the U18 team. His explosion was in 2010 summer during the U18 Division "A" European Championships in Vilnius, Lithuania. He averaged 16.0 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.3 blocks. In that event against Germany he had 20 points, 17 boards and 9 blocks, while over Slovenia his stats were 21 points, 12 boards and 8 blocks.
