Politechnika Warsaw, club from first polish division where top 1993 prospects Mateusz Ponitka and Michal Michalak play, will complete this season despite financial issues. Politechnika is newcomer in Tauron Basket League after winning battle for promotion in second division last year. Club located in capital city of Poland, Warsaw, has got special program to develop top polish prospects. So nothing surprisingly that main options on backcourt in Mladen Starcevic’s team are Ponitka and Michalak. Both are top talents in their generations in all Europe.

Ponitka and Michalak, who lead Polish National Team to second place at World Championship U17 in Hamburg in 2010, are playing for the first time at the highest senior level in their country. It does not disturb Ponitka to averaging 12.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in only 23 minutes of action. Michalak plays so far bit less (16 minutes) and has got 7.1 points as well as 2.1 rebounds per game.

The most important effect of this decision is fact that game AZS Politechnika Warsaw - Siarka Jezioro Tarnobrzeg (22.01.2012) will be held as scheduled earlier this year. It will be great occasion to watch in one performance not only Michalak and Ponitka, but as well Przemyslaw Karnowski ('93). The other top prospect from 1993 generation plays for Siarka and is averaging so far 8.6 points and 4.3 rebounds. As we were told at least seven European scouts from NBA clubs are going to watch this game in Warsaw.
