Past weekend took place the perennial Spalding Hoophall Classic at Springfield College, where year by year the best high school and prep school prospects shine in front of college coaches, recruiters and fans. The European that excelled most at Blake Arena was Nick Stauskas (’93). Michigan-bound is Lithuanian-Canadian and is playing at St. Mark’s (Massachusetts). He played 31 minutes in a great win against Friends Central (Pennsylvania) ending with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. His teammate Aaron Falzon (’96), from Malta, missed his 3 attempts beyond the arc in 6 minutes of play (video of Stauskas’ highlights of the game).
Italian Amedeo Della Valle (’93) scored 5 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, dished 1 assist and complete his stats with 1 block and 1 steal in an impressive win of Findlay Prep (Nevada) against the ranked number 1 team of the nation Simeon HS (Illinois). German finest Maodo Lô (’92) played 38 minutes finishing with 7 points, 7 boards, 1 dime and 1 steal in the lost of Wilbraham & Monson (Massachusetts) against St. Thomas More (Connecticut). His teammate, Spaniard Alex Ramon (’93) enjoyed of 13 minutes in the court missing his only shot attempted from 3 points line.
Victor Ieronymides (’95), from Cyprus, is one of the Warriors of Oak Hill Academy (Virginia). In the win against Prestonwood Academy (Texas) Ieronymides grabbed 1 rebound in 2 minutes.
