Last week-end took place at Georgetown Prep (Maryland) the annual National High School Invitational organized by ESPN that closes the high school basketball season. A few European prospects took part of the event like Danish Kevin Larsen (’93) of Montrose Christian, the balcanian couple of La Lumiere Matej Buovac (’93) from Croatia and Serbian related Adam Djukic (’94), and the crew of Findlay leaded by Italian Amedeo Della Valle (’93) and Lithuanian Benas Griciunas (’95) and completed with Serbian born Petar Rusic (’94) and English Kingsley Okoroh (’95).
The most outstanding of these players was Della Valle that was a key player for get the championship. In the easy win at quarterfinals against Coolidge, Della Valle had 7 points (1/3), 2 rebounds, a block and a steal (video).
At semifinals against St. Benedict’s the Italian helped with 4 points, 3 boards and 3 assists (video).
In the big final, Findlay overcomes 18 point deficit to win at the overtime with Della Valle scoring a three, dishing 2 dimes and a steal (video).
