His father played many years ago against Earvin "Magic" Johnson in the Albert Schweitzer tournament, in Mannheim. And some weeks ago he also played there with the Spanish NT, taking the title. After struggling at the beginning of this season due to some physical problems Oriol Pauli ('94) has shined with Barcelona U18 team last weeks, being selected the MVP of last Spanish Championship final after beating Joventut (14 points, 9 boards and 3 assists). He has been the 6'6'' shadow that has covered other prospects in the team. Can do many things. He is so complete. Stay tunned with his progression.

1994 Barcelona generation has good foreign pieces like Nick Spires ('94) and Alexander Zhigulin ('94), but Pauli has been the man there. In the Spanish Championship averaged 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2.5 assists playing at the SF spot (scored 27 in semifinals). He is a good defender over any outside player, with a body that can still make one step forward. He shoots from long distance and helps also in the rebound. And specially surprises with his wingspan on defense in the situations against the point-guard. Knows how to play without ball and is not selfish at all. What will be his future? Barcelona had this season a farm team in LEB Silver, but they expect get a spot in LEB Gold. Maybe the place Pauli will go next season. Maybe.
