Let's check the best three scorers of the U20 Division "A" European Championship: Marko Mugosa ('93, Montenegro, 18.0 points), Duda Sanadze ('92, Georgia, 17.2) and Beka Burjanadze ('94, Georgia, 16.4). Yes. A 18 years old prospect made these numbers. He has played last seasons in Cajasol Sevilla (ACB) youth teams. Where will be his place next season? He has a status ("formacion" player) with a lot of value in this country. In a 11-men roster four of them are necessary. After playing three seasons in the youth teams he has it. And Aito Garcia Reneses, the new coach, wants him. Easy. Good prize. Eurohopes talked with him after the event, where Georgia struggled finishing in the last position (16th) after promoting last summer. Eventhough they will stay in this division after the rules have changed.
"It's the first time for me playing in Division A and the rest of players are 1 or 2 years older than me. So I've gained a lot of experience on the court. The level here it's too high", explains Burjanadze. After finishing last in the standings georgian prospect tells that "the Biggest reason was that in every game we had less rebounds than the other teams. We needed a 6'11'' paint player, but we don't have it. So...". And what about his sensations? The georgian adds that "I feel so great to know that I was the youngest player and my game is going good, but for me nothing is enough. So I will do my best to improve my game".
Last season in Sevilla "I spent much time practicing with ACB team and also junior. We finish 5th in the U18 Spanish Championship". In the U20 Division "A" European Championship held in Slovenia he finished with 16.4 points (44% twos, 30% threes and 67% free throws), 8.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 33 minutes.
