During past weekend (30.11-2.12) was held third edition of Torneo Baloncesto Fundacion Luecemia y Linfoma with best U15 Spanish team competing. Needless to say, we had an el Classico in final, while after thrilling end FC Regal Barcelona won 73:71 over Real Madrid. Victor Moreno (’98) from CB Fuenlabrada was named MVP.
Only 13 years old Luka Doncic (’99) was a main impact in the final for Real Madrid, however excellent game from Slovenian point guard was not enough. Eventually Doncic collected 16 points, including 2/6 from beyond the arc, 8 rebounds, 8 steals and 3 assists in 38 minutes, however his Real lost 73:71 after thrilling ending. Thanks to brilliant performance by Doncic Real took the lead early, however after 10-0 run in the third quarter FC Barcelona was leading 52:46. In that period Eric Martizen (’98) hid two threes. Spanish forward finished with 15 points on 2/3 three-point shooting, 6 rebounds and 2 assists was the most productive player for Barca. After points by Adria Martizen (’98) Catalan team led 73:67 with 1:21 left. With 2+1 action Ignacio Ballespin (’98) cut the lead to 73:71 with 32 second to the final whistle. Nonetheless in the last action of the game he missed game-winning 3-pointer from the corner.
During the tournament Asefa Estudiantes took Bartek Pietras (’98) from Poland on try-out. 6-7 power forward led last season his TKM Wloclawek to silver medal at Polish U14 Championship averaging 10.6 points and 9 rebounds.
