The FIBA Europe 2013 Youth Championships Draw took place on Saturday in Freising, Germany. A total of 217 Men's and Women's teams were drawn in 16 Championships across three Divisions (A, B and C), and three age categories (U20, U18 and U16). FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson opened proceedings while the Draw was conducted by FIBA Europe Head of Competitions Richard Stokes.

 

President Rafnsson reiterated that Youth Championships are the main focus of FIBA Europe, and thanked all the federations who will be hosting a championship next summer, adding that, "having visited a large number of tournaments in the last years, I can say that it is always a joy to see the up-and-coming generations developing into our future stars."

 

Attending his first Youth Championships draw was FIBA Europe Secretary General Kamil Novak, who spoke prior to the commencement of the draw, stating, "The youth competitions of FIBA Europe are admired and followed all over the continent and beyond." He then went on to add, "Most of the stars of today in Europe, and even the NBA, have been shaped in our youth tournaments."

 

The Men's tournaments will be hosted by Estonia (U20 Division A),Romania (U20 Division B), Latvia (U18 Division A), F.Y.R. of Macedonia(U18 Division B), Andorra (U18 Division C), Ukraine (U16 Division A), Bosnia and Herzegovina (U16 Division B) and Gibraltar (U16 Division C).
