Mega Vizura has talent
Yesterday we offered some info about Nikola Pavlovic. He’s a talented combination forward who’s dominant on the boards while being able to shoot off the catch or attack off the dribble. Mega Vizura’s talent doesn’t end there, two more guys are standing out and should have a place in our rankings soon. The first one is Stefan Simic, Simic is a transfer from Red Star and plays the point from Mega Vizura. He possesses ideal size for the point guard position, quick feet and hands. He’s capable of beating guys off the dribble thanks to a variety of dribble moves and change of directions. Simic attacks the rim aggressively and protects the ball very well by keeping it as close to his body as possible. Simic turned his ankle early in the semifinal against INSEP thus he couldn’t help his team advance to the final. The other guy is Radovan Dokovic, a 6-foot-7 steady point guard with very good passing skills and instincts. He can finish with floaters and jump stops, or make others involved. Dokovic is the true definition of an under the radar guy as he has never been a member of Serbia’s national youth or junior teams.
INSEP fights for the first place
With Stephane Gombauld -at the pic- out of his actual self (anyway he had a double double) , probably because he hasn’t fully recovered from his previous injury, INSEP managed to beat Mega Vizura on a sloppy game which probably was the worst of all the NIJT event. INSEP won indeed, but without playing a good game ;they turned the ball over 21 times against a team which used a zone defense for 45 minutes. If they can’t take care of the ball against a passive defense, how are they going to handle the full court press of Red Star? Ywen Smock was really solid putting up 13 points (5 of 8 from the field), 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks. He protects the rim and finishes around it even though he doesn’t have any particular skills on the offensive end.
Red Star’s dominance continues
Cedevita senior team decided to take Lovro Mazalin to Kragujevac for the game against Radnièki for the Adriatic league, instead of giving the junior team a chance to earn their spot to the final game. Without their best player, Cedevita overwhelmed by a Red Star team that has the most talent than anyone in the tournament. The guys of Slobodan Klipa are superior in terms of athleticism, size, length and skill compared to their opponents and they possess very well the fundamentals of the game as everyone can make pretty much of everything at a very good level. Tomorrow Red Star would take the court against INSEP where they will have the chance to win the Belgrade NIJT for fourth year in a row.
