Miguel Calero, currently assistant coach of Hyeres Toulon at french ProA, explains to the reader who is Louis Labeyrie ('92), one of the best young players in the league. The 6'10'' center signed this summer with Hyeres Toulon from ProB (Fos-sur-Mer).
Player with a lot of offensive talent, making very interesting things even this is his first season at the league. Due to the financial trouble of his team he plays more because there aren't a lot of players in the roster. He has been making step forwards since the beginning of the competition. He can have a bright future.
He fights for all the balls, and also throwing to the floor to get them. He is always enthusiastic and happy. Sometimes has problems to disguise his frustration, even he understands very well when someone explain him different things.
Physically he runs very well, jumps good and is fast. Good coordination. Long arms. 7'0'' wingspan. He is averaging 10.0 points and 6.4 rebounds, with a 60% on twos. He has made a couple of double-doubles: against Paris and ASVEL.
Offense: Technically good. Good shooter from the front and the sides. Can score threes on opened shots. Plays pick-and-roll very well, quick and attacking the basket with much energy. Under the basket he can score with both hands. Uses a correct hook also. Playing backwards has some moves, but has problems attacking heavy players. But uses his speed and ability to play them. Needs to improve reading the game, but he is playing a lot and making steps forward.
Defense: Actually his weak point. Has problems defending hard against heavy players. But makes a good job lifting and making a food diet. Good attitude. A fighter, with good feet moves. Good jump timing, making a lot of blocks. In the future he will be more useful when he reaches a good level reading the game. Good rebounder, with great hands to anticipate.
