End to all rumors that put him with Texas A&M uniform early or put him with FC Barcelona jersey next season. Eric Vila (’98), the top Spanish prospect of his generation has signed the National Letter of Intent with Texas A&M University and will play the 2016-17 season with the Aggies at strong Southeastern Conference (SEC).

We talked with Vila about his commitment, his reasons and his near future.

What means to you take this decision and commit to Texas A&M?
I had two dreams, stay here with FC Barcelona or live the once in a lifetime experience of play college basketball, and I must choose one and I took the chance to combine studies and basketball outside my country. That experience in a country that feels basketball since they are kids and how they feel is a dream come true for me.

Make the decision of leave FC Barcelona and moreover after the great season that you did is not easy right?
It is not. FC Barcelona made me a great offer and I spent a couple of weeks sad because I could not take both options. I’m a FC Barcelona fan and I will always be. I just tried to take the best way for me.

Some high major colleges showed interest and offered you, why you choice Texas A&M?
From all offers I got, only a few had all the things that I want. Texas A&M was the first to show interest. Head coach Billy Kennedy is an excellent person, this is very important to me. During my official visit I met Darby Rich, the sports performance coach, and he impressed me. All the coaching staff and people around basketball team are very kind.

What do you expect from your freshman year and what Aggies fans can expect from you?
I expect to help all that I can. I know that I will have a different role compared with this season but my goal is to contribute since the first season. I want to do my best, improve in offense and defense and especially improve physically to adjust my game better.
