Zakharov is a 6'11 big man with a promising but still undeveloped frame, featuring a 7'1 wingspan. He's a very good athlete who runs the court extremely well, can easily play above the rim and is extremely fluid and coordinated for his size. His footwork separates him from most players in his position, as he has very quick feet as well.
Zakharov is still raw in his game and his instincts, something which also comes from his relatively poor basketball background. He's still developing a proper understanding of the game.
His mobility and coordination allows him to be an easy target to catch a pass inside, as he's able to catch the ball without traveling even in tight space. He has quite soft touch to score at the basket, but so far still struggles to finish in a crowded paint and doesn't score efficiently at the rim. He shows good attitude in rebounding his own miss though, and he's a solid offensive rebounder.
Zakharov has shown improvement with his jumper and intruguing potential to become an effective stretch big man, as he has solid jumper from mid-range and the ability to hit threes as well. He has also some ability to put the ball on the floor to attack a closeout, even though needs to show to be able to do it on a more consistent basis. His shot selection is still questionable though.
Zakharov has extremely interesting defensive potential thanks to his mobility, length and athleticism. He needs to improve his defensive IQ, but at the youth level of competition his size and quickness are effective so far. What makes him even more intriguing are his footwork and quickness defending ball screens, something not easy to find in a player his size.
