PROFILE

ANGE Abu Dhabi- May 2025
By Artau Pascual

Best body among guards and wings in the 2008-born age group: broad shoulders, muscular legs. Above-average athlete for European standards. Moves with long strides and changes directions and pace effortlessly. Played in just one game. He’s a creative player who can drive both ways: the dribble is tight and poised, and he finds slashing lanes. Lack of shooting harms his halfcourt game: At this point, he can get to the rim just because of his explosive first step, but he will need to have a way more reliable jumper to make an impact as a primary ball-handler at the next level. He showed a bit more willingness to shoot the ball than usual, but you can go under against him all the time. Defensively, Mahop projects as a great on-ball defender: both lateral quickness and hip flexibility jump off the page, as well as his perimeter versatility to go 1-3 and his low center of gravity. If the jumper clicks, he will have an NBA chance.

FIBA U16 European Championship- August 2024

Wide frame, long extremities and high-end athletic attributes that fuel his game on both ends of the court, although he still needs to develop control over them. Has plenty of margin to get stronger. Already displays some impressive motor peaks. On the offensive end, Mahop is a mixed bag. He’s an impressively creative passer for a player of his type. He’s at his best assisting his teammates on the open floor. However, his halfcourt processing left some cool flashes: enters the screen under control, can involve multiple teammates in pick&roll actions and has an extended repertoire of passes. Good decision-maker on the drive. Needs to improve in scoring: doesn’t shoot it from outside in spot-up, and off the dribble mechanics needs plenty of work. As good as his touch is at passing and dribbling, he’s a little careless at finishing. Meets all the requirements to be a great slasher. On the defensive end, Mahop’s ceiling is sky-high. He defends ball-handlers at a very low stance, possesses awesome lateral quickness and ability to recover and, because of his size, he’s switchable on the perimeter. Needs to keep working on his positional development off the ball. Makes things happen effortlessly.

Tournoua Filias U15- July 2023
By Felix Hilgart

Athletic Wing with very long arms, legs and good size. Above average athletically, very explosive first step. Uses changes of speed and direction very well. Gets to the rim almost at will, whether he is used as a ball handler in pick&roll or when attacking closeouts. Shows his willingness and excellent – even surprisingly creative – passing abilities to set up his teammates. He is good at keeping his head up on drives and good use of the in- and out-dribbling to get around defenders with long strides. His shooting mechanics look OK, just a little stiff on free-throws, but still very raw out of the game. Left-hand finishing is also questionable at this point. Defensively he uses his length and mobility well to play in the passing lanes and is a splendid on-ball defender. Shows good instincts on helpside-rotations, just reacts a little too slow at times. Mostly plays in a defensive stance. Has the athletic potential to be an elite rebounder at his position but lacks instinct and tends to lose sight of his man when the ball is in the air.

General overview- February 2023

Talented perimeter player with great physical attributes. His change of pace is good, and knows how to slow down the pace when the ball is in his hands. He is good scoring as a pick and roll ball handler and can create good looks for himself at different levels. His mechanics look clean and the fluidity and coordination he has make of him a good slasher. He does good reads as a passer, mainly when it comes to feeding the roller. On the defensive end, he has the tools to be a solid point of attack defender, and as of right now he can take care of different types of perimeter players, as well as he's active jumping passing lanes and creating deflections.
