Season review- December 2024
By Artau Pascual
Grunloh is off to an encouraging first stretch of the season with Rasta Vechta, and he's taking steps in the right direction to cement his candidature to be an NBA Draft pick. The most noticeable development in his game has been the major improvements he's made in 3PT volume and effectiveness: Grunloh can currently stretch the floor from the top of the key and has added a new form of production to his repertoire. Added to this, he's still a tough finisher that tries to dunk the ball every time he can in pick&roll actions, and he shows motor and activity at running the floor.
Defensively, Grunloh is already an anchor for his team. His body has improved compared to last year: he moves better and plays stronger. He has turned into a better rim protector using contact, and he keeps making an impact from the weakside. Turns hip better and feels very comfortable as a drop big because of how well he measures the distance and backpedals. Because of his length, he can switch in late possession in tight spaces and have an impact.
FIBA U18 European Championship- July 2023
Mobile big man with an OK body frame. Moves fluidly on straight lines. On the offensive end, he’s a good post-up player with solid passing vision and feel: he can hit his teammates and understands the amount of attention he draws. Has made some improvements at stretching the floor and his shooting form looks solid. On the defensive end, he has good instincts for shot-blocking and his rim protection understanding is a difference-making skill at this level. Has improved his lateral quickness and rebounds with energy and a hard nose. Needs to keep improving his ability on switch defenses, but he already makes a good use of his wingspan.
ANGT Patras- February 2023
Big mobile man that runs the floor well. Long arms. An average athlete with solid lateral quickness. Point guard captured in the body of center. Excellent basketball IQ. Reads the game well. Can step up behind 3point line even though this is not his main strength. On the post uses fade away shot a lot. Good rebounder. Lacks some strength to be able to play through contact.
