Guard with a somewhat narrow frame, but with room to add strength, especially in the upper body. He is the go-to guy on the team and a three-level scorer. On offense, his ball-handling and elite reads allow him to create space in the frontal area, either rising up for a shot or attacking all the way to his right. Strong enough to stay balanced when going all the way to the rim and finish through contact. Kutluay’s reads in PnR and ISO make him able to create advantages and find the open teammate when help comes. On the defensive end, he can be a bit pesky, anticipating passing lanes and looking to make plays from behind. He has the tools to be solid as an on-ball defender, but off the ball, he can sometimes get out of position when trying to anticipate the opponent's next move.

Point guard with great feel operating efficiently with the ball. Physically, he still has room to add weight to his frame, which will allow him to absorb contact better when attacking the rim. His broad skill set, mixed with his explosiveness and fluidity, makes him a threat in one-on-one situations, creating advantages to collapse the paint and find scoring opportunities for himself or feed his teammates. More of a slasher than a shooter, but he shows interesting balance and touch when shooting mid-range pull-ups. Defensively, he moves his feet quickly and effectively to stay in front of the ball. It is in the paint and around the rim where he struggles a bit more due to his lack of strength compared to opponents.

U18 Torneig Ciutat de l'Hospitalet - December 2025

Point guard with plenty of room to add muscle and further develop his body. Strong feel operating off the dribble. Elite ball-handling skills and body control allow him to be effective in multiple situations. He plays with his head up at all times, controlling the pace of his team’s offense and looking to get into the paint, where he can finish through contact. He shows good court vision in pick-and-roll situations, reading the defense to attack or make the pass. Shooting-wise, he looks more comfortable off the dribble, showing impressive touch and balance on mid-range pull-ups. Defensively, he shows great activity and positioning off the ball, filling gaps smartly and recovering to his man. He has solid lateral quickness and uses his body well when guarding similar profiles.

FIBA U16 European Championship - August 2025

Kutluay was one of the most productive players in the entire event. The point guard, who is set to return to Real Madrid this season, was the main force on this Turkey roster. Already a key piece on last year’s U16 National Team, Kutluay is a pass-first PG who gets to his spots at will. His size currently hurts his stock, since his frame is not bulky or strong yet, but rather lanky. However, on offense he’s poised and plays the right way.

Kutluay's physical development over the last season has been quite disappointing. He hasn't added muscles and his body has matured. I think that down the line he will get max to 6'4". Right now is the moment where he can start adding some kilos. Arms have decent length so on the long run this might be concerning for the top level. Also, athleticism and explosiveness are just decent, not NBA level. His floor-general ability is special, when he has the ball the game goes at his own pace, and this skill is translatable to many levels. It looks like he always have the situation under control. He recognises and plays with advantages (mis-matches, pick&roll action). High-end pick&roll player potential: works very well with hesitations and fakes. Solid scorer from the mid-range and from three-point range: comfortable pull-up scorer. Drives down the lane with both hands and finishes soft at the rim. His mix of fluid handles, burst and basketball IQ allow him to get by many defenders at this level of competition, and this looks like a skill that is translatable at the pro level. He struggles when it comes to compete physically at the rim. Euroleague level passing game. Kutluay looks to develop into a scoring PG that provides a legit floor, since he has couple skills that he can bring at high level (scoring and passing game). Lack of explosiveness and athleticism are concerning for the NBA level - it doesn't look like he will ever be able to make up for this. Euroleague PG is best case scenario.

Pure PG. Son of former Euroleague player Ibrahim Kutluay, Omer was one of the best passers in the entire tournament. Floor-general with clear Euroleague potential. He could be even NBA depending on his physical development, he should grow other 3 or 4 inches. Frame is undeveloped still, long arms, not powerful. Puts his teammates in rhythm with easy passes. Terrific pick&roll player at this level. Fair scorer, better on pull-ups than spot-ups. Defense doesn't look like his focus now, although at the moment he struggles to keep the rhythm with more physically developed guards.
