The Serbian forward is still developing physically, both in terms of height and strength, and now stands at 6’9”. He always plays with a very high and contagious level of competitiveness. On offense, he can impact the game in different ways, coming off screens to create from the dribble, bringing the ball up, or running the floor in transition. Despite his lanky frame, his natural strength allows him to play through and absorb contact when attacking the rim. He relies on his long strides and length to get past defenders off the dribble, and this, combined with an above-average skill set, allows him to finish in multiple ways. Shooting-wise, despite his percentages being a bit below average, his release and mechanics look better than the numbers suggest. He takes some shots more because of his leadership role than because they are necessarily good shot selections. Defensively, despite his size, he has solid lateral quickness and mobility to navigate screens both on and off the ball. Kusturica uses his length and body extremely well to pressure the ball and prevent handlers from getting into the paint.

ANGE Final Stage: Athens - May 2026

Only participated in the final game due to an ankle injury. With him on the court, the team’s overall level of competitiveness increases significantly. Physically, he still has significant room for muscular development, but despite this, he uses his body extremely well. Offensively, when operating with the ball, he relies more on his long strides than advanced handling skills to attack bigger players on the perimeter. Shows a high feel for filling spots on the perimeter, reacting to teammates’ drives and finding open shots from outside. Defensively, he shows a solid ability to navigate screens and is not afraid to use his body to absorb contact and prevent opponents from finishing comfortably. Great use of his length to fill gaps, disrupt passing lanes, and contest shots both on the perimeter and in the paint.

ANGE Stage 3: Bologna - March 2026

The Serbian wing, although he has a lengthy frame, also has natural strength mixed with competitiveness and skill set, which makes him able to finish in multiple ways and contexts. Offensively, Kusturica has above-average ball-handling skills for his position and size, and relying on his long strides, he can get into the paint easily attacking face-up from the perimeter. Sometimes he focuses too much on scoring and forces too many situations near the rim. Shooting from deep, his percentage wasn’t good during the tournament, but the base of his release is good and looks consistent from the catch. Defensively, his natural strength allows him to play physically against other forwards, not letting them win position in the paint. On the perimeter, he uses his length extremely well to control the distance with the ball against quicker players, to contest long-range shots, and to have the space and time to react if he has to stop penetration.

U18 Torneig Ciutat de l'Hospitalet - December 2025

Lengthy forward with plenty of room to add muscle. He can play both the SF and PF positions. Offensively, he can impact the game in multiple ways. Operating with the ball, he relies on his long strides to get into the paint in isolation or when attacking close-outs, showing soft touch with both hands on extensions. He can play simple pick-and-roll situations. Off the ball, he reads the defense well to cut to the rim. From deep, he is more consistent shooting off the catch than off the dribble, with a solid and clean release. Defensively, he uses his hands extremely well to pressure the ball and is a solid on-ball defender when guarding similar forward profiles. He has quick feet to navigate screens and stay in front of the ball.

FIBA U16 - European Championship Division A 2025

Nikola Kusturica was extremely difficult to guard in the event, thanks to his length and impressive standing reach, making him highly effective in pull-up situations, where he went 8/19 from three during the event. The spin has to be fixed, but this should improve over time since his body is still developing and changing. He thrives in ISO offense, takes responsibility, and frequently runs his team, delivering high-level performances. 

Defensively, the 6’8” forward shows excellent instincts, with active hands, remarkable wingspan, and the ability to anticipate plays; he was the only 6’7”+ player averaging at least 3.7 stocks per game, impacting the game both on-ball and from the weak side. 

In terms of vision, Kusturica increased his assist production throughout the tournament, recording 8 in the final against Lithuania, showing strong timing on passes out of double-teams in the low post and a natural feel for the game. He keeps it simple and makes the right reads. What catches the eye in Nikola Kusturica’s game is the elegance of his moves. He has exceptional coordination and verticality, making everything look extremely easy, almost effortless. Not many players show this kind of characteristic at that age.

Kusturica is one of the most talented players in the generation. While his physical development is still many ways to go, he already plays at an impressive level of energy and toughness that fuels his contribution. Elite footwork. Kusturica's ball-handling and creativity on the drive are impressive: his ball control and passing vision, both open court and in tight spaces, sit at the top of the generation, and he's crafty and tries to be physical in his finishes. Always looks for the dunk. Shooting mechanics look good, both off the catch or off the dribble, but results are inconsistent still.

Lengthy and skinny perimeter player with plenty of room to fill the frame. Athleticism and strength development go long term. Absurdly talented. His ability to take unexpected, accurate solutions is off the charts, and his creativity off live dribble actions will make a difference as his physicality and motor keep improving. Shooting is inconsistent still, but his mechanics look fluid, and he projects as a solid space-creator for his own shots. On the defensive end, he still needs to work on his stance and awareness, but because of his length, hip flexibility and attitude he meets the requirements to be a solid on-ball defender in the long term. Body language is spectacular: always cheering for his teammates in the court and on the bench.

First impression- June 2023

Talented guard with first-level coordination and body control. His spatial awareness jumps off the page: he's able to create room for himself in tight spaces thanks to his advanced ball handling skills and polished footwork, and he finds solutions against bigger and stronger opponents because of talent reasons. His low gravity center allows him to create advantages for himself, and he loves the low catch. When in the paint, he likes playing off two feet: in these situations, his passing feel and courtmapping ability excel. Needs to put more effort on the defensive end.
