Nice-built wing with broad shoulders and plenty of room to add muscle. During the tournament, he played a different role than he usually does with the U16 team. Offensively, he handled the ball less than usual, filling the transition lanes quickly and correctly, and in static situations moving well off the ball to find open shots on the perimeter. He looked more confident from deep than usual, even though he usually looks more comfortable shooting mid-range pull-ups. Defensively, he can stay in front of the ball when guarding on the perimeter, sliding quickly and using his body to crash with the handler. He shows great hand usage to put pressure on the ball or deflect passes.

U16 No Borders Eurocup - October 2025

Nice-framed wing with impressive coordination and body control for his age and size. One of the more mature players of his generation. Offensively, he relies on his long strides and correct ball-handling skills to punish defenders in multiple ways. Can operate with the ball to attack the paint and finish through contact with great balance. Robinson shows interesting court vision, able to pass off the dribble in pick-and-roll situations. From the perimeter, most of his shots come from spot-ups, and although he still needs to improve his touch, he shows a quick and solid release. Robinson is a versatile defender who uses his frame and quickness to guard multiple positions, switching from 1 to 4 and navigating screens effectively.

U16 Villa De La Orotava - October 2025

Tournament MVP. He's the guy with most impact on the team. He played the best game of his tournament in the Final game. He gave the lead to his team in the few difficult moments of the event. Shooting mechanics are not beautiful to be seen, but he's efficient. Spin looks fair and he gives the impression to score when he shoots. He's way better in spot-ups than pull-ups. His body hasn't changed over the last year: slightly stronger, but he hasn't added inches. I think that in the end he will be around 6'6". Nice length. He brings to the table athleticism and motor as well, and he's reliable on the defensive end. In this setting he has different role than on last year's team where he was a pure role player. I still see him better in that kind of setting, where he has to take spot-up shots and bring versatility on defense. Overall, Robinson hasn't made big strides in his game over the last season from a physical and technical standpoint, but his game translates to the next level, and he plays in the right way.

U16 MadCup Basket - April 2025

Rhys Robinson had a tournament with some ups and downs. The 15-year old SF hasn't made any improvements in his game over the last months. The concerns about his offensive game haven't changed. He's still standing somewhere between 6'5" and 6'6" w/o shoes, but his body looks like he might add one inch still. Arms are long (wingspan should be around 6'9"). Over this season it looks like he hasn't added kilos. His handles, which were the main concern with his game, don't look particularly improved. Still dribbles high and he's not comfortable to pick up main handler duties. Shooting mechanics are not good-looking, but in this tournament he scored from deep with decent efficiency. He has to fix his mechanics since his point of release and the arc of the ball are too low. On the long-term I think that his main asset still is his defensive versatility and instincts. At this level, Robinson can guard from 1 to 4 given his size and quickness. He shows good instincts to block shots and make steals. Rotates well from the weak-side. Has motor and athleticism to be a sized guard-defender at the pro level. His frame is narrow (narrow shoulders and linear and vertical body), and I can't see him becoming wide and muscular on the long-term. This will allow him to maintain his quickness and peskiness. Pretty unique mix of size, athleticism and instincts that make his stock rise. Has bad attitude on the floor: he loses the focus on the game too easily, complains with the referee and gets technicals and unsportsmanlike fouls due to his bad attitude. Doesn't understand when he can commit focus mistakes, and when not. Must change.
