ANGE Abu Dhabi- May 2025
By Artau Pascual
Skinny, lengthy wing with broad shoulders. Brnovic has filled the frame over the entire year, and his motor and contact absorption improvements have been remarkable since last Summer. In this event, Brnovic struggled to have a consistent impact because of the toughness level of the stage, but he was able to display some new flashes with the ball in his hands. Brnovic’s shooting mechanics are good: he has some energy transfer issues related to lower-body lack of strength, but his release is quick and high. Most of his misses are because the shot falls short. He has some type of knee valgus that will need to be addressed as he keeps growing. Felt very comfortable shooting the ball from the corner. Brnovic also did well at putting the ball on the floor off closeouts and on the open floor. His dribble is still high and unpolished because he has a high center of gravity, but the mix of long strides and space creation is promising. He had some self-created looks from the mid-range through floaters and stepbacks. Defensively, Brnovic didn’t have a consistent impact: he got caught coming off screens and was late at contesting shots and rotating for his team. The high center of gravity and lack of hip flexibility currently limit his impact. Most of the next improvements in this area will be related to his physical development.

Brnovic proved himself as one of the major prospect in what it looks like an average-talented 2008-born generation. Brnovic has added couple inches since one year ago, and he's now legit 6'8 forward with nice length and size overall. Frame is not filled-in yet. Hunchbacked. Feet are quick, and this is what will allow him to play at the 3 also at the pro level. Athleticism doesn't stand out. Quick and ready to change stance and position in different situations. He plays tough, you can count on him in difficult moments. Since he arrived in Kaunas he has made a big jump in terms of responsibilites. What stands out from his offensive game is the ability to create off the dribble for his size. Not often to find a 6'8 guy with his skillset. Inconsistent shooter. Crashes the boards, always intense and aware. Puts effort on defense, and he can be important contributor on that end since at this level of competition he can switch on wings and forwards.
At the end of the line, Brnovic projects at the forward spot at the Euroleague level, and with the right physical development he might have a chance in the league down the line. Interior creator with legit athelticism. Body is still pretty raw, and he started to play against top level competition only since 6 months.
Torneig L'Hospitalet- December 2024

Appealing frame for the SF spot: tall wing with wide frame and long extremities. Has plenty of margin to add frame, and his motor looks very improved compared to last Summer. He was able to hold his ground against TOP level U18 teams, and at the same time he displayed self-creation on the drive and off the dribble, attacking closeouts and using his size and length. Plays hard and fights for rebounds. Defensively, he was disruptive and active in passing lanes and as a weakside defender, and he hustled back well in transitions as well as after a turnover. One of the players with the highest upside on the stage.
FIBA U16 European Championship- August 2024

Both the upper and lower body are still undeveloped. Not muscular and could grow more. The frame is wide and he’s a lengthy kid. He lacks defensive habits: terrible at closing out and gambles for the steal all the time. On the offensive end, he’s fantastic playing open floor offense, and he has good hands to assist teammates ahead of him after grabbing the defensive rebound. Excellent at leaking out and finishing fastbreaks. Not a ball-handler or a reliable closeout attacker off the dribble if he’s not attacking way slower players. Needs to increase his activity as an off the ball threat in halfcourt offense because every time he decides to cut he produces, but he decides to stay stagnant too often. Fairly high ceiling at the European level if he takes the mentioned weaknesses seriously.
